Proto-Cutter's XR coolant fed reamers are made with a single carbide blade that is adjustable and cermet guide pads. These are made for blind and through hole reaming. Coolant holes are through the center for blind holes and coolant holes in the flutes for through holes. Our XR reamer blades have custom chamfers and clearances designated for specific materials and micro finish requirements.

We have our standard dimensions or they can be custom made per customer specs.

PVD Coatings For Blades
Titanium Nitride (TIN): Good all purpose coating for steels, irons and plastics. Helps in reducing build up on cutting edges and achieving micro finishes.

Titanium Carbon Nitride (TICN): Good for carbon steels alloy steels, & cast irons. Helps in achieving micro finishes. Examples are 1215, 12L14, 4140, 4130 materials, TICN is more wear resistant than TIN.

Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TIALN): Good for cast irons, and steels. A multi layered coating with aluminum to help with heat & oxidation resistance.

Proto-Cutter tool setters are excellent for reading TIR (total indicator run out) on any tools or parts between centers, setting the blade and back taper on the Proto-Cutter XR Reamer. They come with a spring loaded center for easy release and 1 fixed center.

XR Tool Setter-1 is a bench center that measures tools up to 4" in diameter and 12" long. 2 Mahr Federal gages reading .00005 increments come with the tool setter.

XR Tool Setter-2 is a bench center that measures tools up to 4" in diameter and 24" long. 2 Mahr Federal gages reading .00005 increments come with the tool setter.
